Our parents say: “The best thing about the school: an approachable and personable head “ and “the camaraderie is exceptional“
Located in the safe, peaceful Brecon Beacons National Park, Christ College is an independent co-educational boarding and day school for pupils aged 4-18. Founded in 1541 by Henry VIII, the school has been a community of learning for nearly 500 years. The school motto, "They achieve because they believe they can," develops confidence, encouraging self-belief with ‘I can do it’ attitude, combined with a strong moral compass so that whatever the future holds for their pupils, they will be good, kind, responsible human-beings.
Known for academic excellence in Mathematics and Science, pupils consistently achieve excellent results at A Level (with 60% achieving A*-A in 2024), BTEC and GCSE and move onto their first-choice university or professional pathway. The 40-acre campus provides a varied extra-curricular programme, where music and performing arts blend alongside sport, outdoor pursuits and much more. Boarders consider the school a home-from-home and quickly develop a sense of belonging. Houseparents know the pupils well, creating a welcoming family atmosphere, at a school where children have the support to discover and nurture their talents. A Year 12 pupil commented: “I feel very at home in school - it’s like having 40 sisters that you can talk to about anything.”
Gareth Pearson, Head, said: “We continuously try to meet the needs of individuals, which shows our dedication to helping pupils develop into well-rounded, humble and happy young adults. Our close-knit community is characterised by mutual respect and warmth.”
