Bredon School

over half of the pupils taking up to eight GCSE’s. Bredon is a co-educational boarding school offering specialist Dyslexic teaching. Remaining true to Lt-Col Sharp’s founding vision in 1962, ‘the journey is as important as the destination’ Bredon supports and encourages pupils to achieve inside and beyond the classroom. Every pupil is offered
an impressive range of traditional and vocational qualifications in an outstanding pastoral environment ensuring every pupil thrives as an individual. Children are taught in average class sizes of 12. Alongside utilizing specialist technology, teachers adapt lessons to interests and abilities.

Our pathway program offers pupils three routes to success. Academic, Vocational and Professional option blocks enable pupils to learn according to their abilities and interests from Year 9 onwards. Boarding at Bredon is unique. Boarding staff are a purely pastoral team and are not actively involved in the day-to-day teaching of lessons, allowing pupils to separate school from ‘home’. Weekend activities are varied and include sports and trips. Bredon offers an extensive outdoor pursuits program that includes the Duke of Edinburgh Scheme and Forest School. Facilities extend beyond the classrooms with a wide selection of extracurricular activities taking place onsite including Farming, Horse riding, Clay Pigeon Shooting, Music tuition, Drama, Mountain Biking, Kayaking and Fishing. An outstanding sports programme is also available.

Our CCF remains at the heart of the programme following in the footsteps of Lt-Col Sharp who served in the 2nd Monmouthshire Battalion.

“Bredon links mainstream education with learning opportunities that take pupils way beyond the confines of any classroom.” Absolutely Education 2024
