Founded in 1788, RMS for Girls is one of the oldest girls’ schools in England. RMS likes to think differently and, within that approach, seeks to bring out the best in every pupil. RMS enjoys a wonderful location within 315 acres of green parkland and yet just 22 minutes by train from central London and only 20 minutes from London Heathrow. With pupils from age 2 to 18 years, and welcoming boarding pupils from age eight, the broad and varied curriculum together with a co-curricular programme offering 100+ activities, there is something for everyone; enabling every girl to discover their niche and to thrive. Whilst twenty-first century boarding provides a comfortable, supportive and happy environment for the cosmopolitan boarding community, the integration between day girls and boarders is something that RMS is particularly proud of!
Extensive facilities include a recently renovated Sixth Form Centre, a sports centre, an indoor swimming pool, multiple sporting pitches as well as a state of the art Performing Arts Centre with a Green Screen and a Recording Studio. The school even has a planetarium! Pupils at RMS are challenged daily and the learning style inspires pupils to dig deeper, often resulting in futures they had not imagined. As experts in girls’ education, we understand how girls prefer to learn. RMS guides, supports and nurtures and provides the opportunity to expand horizons. RMS pupils are encouraged to think critically, creatively and collaboratively. Above all, RMS girls are happy and balanced and will become the best version of themselves.
RMS is fully committed to providing support to our Armed Forces families, recognising the particular pressures placed on service personnel and their families, the requirement for family mobility and the long periods of parental deployment. Maintaining a stable educational platform for service children is one of RMS’s goals and as a school we appreciate that service children invariably have a great deal of wider experience that can further enrich our community. Boarding at RMS is flexible (full, weekly and flexi boarding are all available) and provides lots of opportunities for your daughter to develop her potential. RMS does not have any compulsory exeat weekends.
RMS is on the approved list of schools for families who receive the Forces’ Boarding Schools Allowance, and HM Forces personnel in receipt of CEA only pay 10% of RMS school fees.
“This is a school that walks the walk when it comes to focusing on the individual.”
