Harrogate Ladies’ College

Girls Senior School
"A culture of high achievement pervades the school" ISI Inspection report Many 2017

Harrogate Ladies’ College is a vibrant, stimulating and diverse school community.  Founded in 1893, we are a day and boarding school for girls aged 11-18 located in the heart of the beautiful spa town of Harrogate.

Around 40% of our pupils are boarders and come from more than 20 countries. Our boarders are fully integrated into our school community and live in traditional family houses which provide a ‘home from home’ experience.

Outstanding teaching, strong pastoral support and a secure friendly community allow girls to excel academically and become confident, successful young women who strive to be the very best they can be.

In 2017, our A level and GCSE results were excellent. 36% of all A level grades were A*-A and 69% A*-B with girls achieving particularly high results in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) subjects. 62% of all pupils achieved at least 5 A*-A grades (or the equivalent grades 9-7) at GCSE and 96% of all grades were A*-C (or the equivalent grades 9-4).

Over 75% of girls received offers from Russell Group universities with two places secured at Oxbridge - Cambridge to read Law and Oxford to read Physics and Philosophy.

Harrogate has excellent rail and road links, with easy access to Leeds Bradford Airport (20 minutes), Manchester Airport (90 minutes) and London Heathrow (35 minute shuttle flight).
