St Mary’s Calne is an independent day and boarding school in Calne, Wiltshire, for girls aged 11 to 18, with a happy, purposeful and flourishing community of around 360 pupils (80% boarding, 20% day) and a fine tradition of academic excellence. Located in the heart of Wiltshire, the school prides itself on instilling in its pupils a love of learning and a desire to care for each other, their community and the wider world. St Mary’s is dedicated to developing each pupil’s full potential by providing a nurturing environment in which girls can develop, grow and express themselves.
The school is committed to providing girls with an innovative, dynamic, personalised curriculum that will challenge each girl as they grow and develop. Our GCSE and A Level results are consistently outstanding and the girls make a smooth transition to the university of their choice. In 2023, we celebrated excellent exam results, with 70% A*/A at A Level. We are extremely proud to be named as the 2nd independent school in the South West for academic performance in The Sunday Times Schools’ Guide, Parent Power 2024.
As we offer full boarding, with an exciting programme of weekend activities, we are popular with our Forces families. We offer Military Personnel (both serving and reservists) up to a 20% fee reduction through Means Tested Bursaries.
“St Mary’s is the perfect place to try new things, to improve the subjects you love and create long-lasting friendships. (Taggie, Year 8)”
