St Peter’s School, York

Co-educational Senior School
"Our School has been part of one of the world’s most historic cities for almost 1400 years.”

As one of the oldest schools in the world, St Peter’s School, York, combines a rich heritage with outstanding academic achievement.

St Olave’s, for children aged 8-13, offers small classes, unrivalled facilities and a vast array of academic and co-curricular opportunities.

From 13, pupils at St Peter’s follow a broad curriculum for one year before choosing from an impressive variety of subjects at GCSE and A-level. Together, the schools provide the ideal environment for pupils to succeed – St Peter’s School achieves outstanding results, with pupils passing 84% of A Levels at A*/B in 2016, and more than two thirds of all leaver progressing to further study at  Russell Group and international elite universities.

Alongside such academic success, pupils are encouraged to explore interests outside the classroom. The variety of activities on offer ensures every pupil can develop his or her potential to the full, no matter where their strengths may lie.

Boarding is an integral element of the School and is available from the age of ten. Vibrant and successful boarding houses for girls and boys lend vitality to the pastoral life of the School. Inspiration from living in close proximity to a cultured and historic city adds further richness to the pupils’ lives. The Ofsted inspection of Boarding in December 2010 found the School’s provision to be Outstanding.
